It looks like a destroyer. There are no modern battleships. They're all floating museums.

It's actually a litoral combat ship. This and one other design are both being produced and are both generally regarded as being substandard for multiple reasons.

If the F35 wasn't so poopie they would be the poster child of shitty military spending.

Fancy corvette.

Yep, an LCS, but I think they're getting a bad rap from the "bluewater" Navy. The first of a class always has issues.

The Wikipedia article made them seem really weak

The "destroyers" or whatever you want to call them are floating coffins actually.

Just because its new doesn't mean its good.

“…Brower explained: “The trouble is that as a ship pitches and heaves at sea, if you have tumblehome instead of flare, you have no righting energy to make the ship come back up. On the DDG 1000, with the waves coming at you from behind, when a ship pitches down, it can lose transverse stability as the stern comes out of the water – and basically roll over.

There is no such thing as a modern battleship. The last two US battleships are museums in Stockton and Norfolk.

The last four U.S. built battleships (the Iowa class) are in:
U.S.S Iowa (BB-61) Los Angles, California
U.S.S. New Jersey (BB-62) Camden, New Jersey
U.S.S. Missouri (BB-63) Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
U.S.S. Wisconsin, (BB-64) Norfolk, Virginia.
These are all floating museums now. If you get the chance
you should really visit one. They are really something to see /
go on.
The ship in the picture looks like a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS),
and appears to be the USS Independence, hull number 2.

EDIT: Picture is actually on the Wikipedia page.

I've toured the New Jersey. It was pretty cool.

If you want to visit one I would suggest steering clear of Stockton.

It's basically an extruded submarine with a bunker on top of it
