They really did teach kids to be their best back then. How did we allow the liberals to infiltrate the education system and let it decline so badly?

I know that the people that fought against it were labeled as racists and backwards by the press.

First, schools integrated, then they dumbed everything down so black kids could pass. I'm old enough to have gone 1 through 12 in all white schools. An old classmate of mine who wound up teaching at the same HS 7 years later told me the school had been integrated for 4 years and was now a shadow of it's former self. It didn't take long for the nignobs to wreck the place.

I am not that old, but experienced something similar. I went to school in an almost entirely white area. We were a semi rural school district. The city schools about 20 minutes up the interstate decided to merge with the county because they were failing. Those schools were almost entirely black, from the principals and teachers down to 99% of the students.

Instead of trying to fix those schools, the county shut them down, fired all the staff, and bused all students to schools out in the county.

It was a freaking shock. The amount of fights in our hallways before integration, none. It was unheard of. We were a nationally recognized school of excellence.

Afterwards they had to bring in permanent policemen to handle the violent fights in the hallways. I am talking full on fist fights. The way they acted the day after OJ was released was terrifying. They went wild. I had never seen people behave like that ever. Not in public nor in private.

The result was that test scores immediately dropped. The quality of education dropped due to behavioral issues and students who wouldn't or couldn't follow the curriculum.

White families moved even further out into the county or into a diffrent county altogether. Housing prices stagnated in what used to be a nice middle-to-upper class area next to a popular lake. I looked the area up recently, and the housing market has still not recovered. It has been around 20 years, and the area just seems old and rundown. Want a lake house for cheap and are willing to deal with a ghetto school? PM me fornthe zip code.

The school is still there, but it looks like a dump. The grounds used to have really nice volunteer maintained gardens, but those are long gone. It looks like they didn't even bother to paint the exterior or roof (it was some sort of modern design and metal).

It makes me really sad. I Didn't even bother to go back for my high school reunion.

The damage was done by linking funding to pass rates. Instead of letting kids fail ( for whatever reason they are behind) and holding to the educational standards, we decided to punish schools for letting ill equipped children flunk out naturally.

I got family that lived through desegregation. None of them got a free pass because they were brown. There were no remedial programs or affirmative action and they did just fine and plenty of them went to college afterwards.

The dismantling of the education was systematically undertaken with "race equality" as a smoke screen.

Video wouldn't load for me but I can imagine the chip-out that ensued.

We need to go back to segregation states. Let the liberals, colored, and jews live in and run half the country and the white libertarians and conservatives live in and run the other half. Everyone will then quickly see which states flourish and which states crumble under the weight of their own stupidity.

Been there, done that. It's all fun and games until kids get tortured by a bunch of cunts. I grew up under this system (another country, I'm not that old) and let me tell you, women are vindictive as fuck. It's not that we let the liberals fuck everything over, it's that we let women in these positions to begin with.

On the back of the report card, there's a section to track the weight of the student. We NEED to do that again.

Who's going to pay for it? The problem isn't that we shouldn't, but that we can't with the number of teachers we have. Not to mention the despicably poor wages they receive.

I graduated HS 2 years ago. The grading system was:

A: 100-90 B: 89-80 C: 79-70 D: 69-60 E: anything below 60; failure

They took out "F" for some reason? Must hurt too many feelings.

Went to private school for a few years, and F was still 75 or below. Finished school in public schools, was a total cake walk because an F was 59 or below, absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention how dumbed the curriculum was in public schools.

Failed hygiene... I wonder what happened inbetween the first and second term. Maybe the kid's mother died.

[–] DopeandDiamonds 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago

That caught my attention as well. It happens after the child takes five days off in a term so something serious happened.

Something serious happened in the kid's life, something huge, and he still kept going to school and passed everything except two semesters of spelling. Citizenship and P.E. didn't suffer at all. We used to build kids tough.

Ever befriend people from other countries, online? It's stunning to see how educated, they are. They speak multiple languages and are educated in a wide array of valid subjects. I know, many foreign people with high-school-educations that are much more educated than most US college grads. We home schooled for this reason(avoid indoctrination into the Liberal-dumb-ass club). Common core? HELL NO. So ashamed(and embarrassed) of what this country has become.

[–] intrepiddemise 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago  (edited ago)

The people you talk to online have to speak another language well enough in order to speak to you (I'm assuming you only speak English fluently). Your sample is therefore going to be skewed toward the more educated foreign commenters and posters.

I've considered this before but still, education is much better in many countries outside of the USA.

There's always hope. The hope here is that, the problem's been identified. Now, all we need to do, is work on rectifying it.

Came here to see comments praising "Obedience" and "respect for authority"

Was surprised not to find any.

Never forget that public school is a government organization run by government agents, indoctrination is not a good thing, no matter which side is doing it.

Black pen vs Blue pen, Different teachers subjectively grading an individual. The first teacher marked the student up pretty high. The second teacher either marked the student fair or marked them down, how are we to know?
I have to grade students, but my grades are a small fraction of the overall score. I always mark high and detract points from the maximum score. Other teachers mark low and build the score from that point.
What is the best way to decide how well a person is performing?
*Edit
I always start at max score as I feel the student deserves that. I then let them detract from the score by showing their weakness and deciding how much they have hurt their perfect performance. But I always assume they are perfect at the start of the test.
