I joined this subverse as a recommendation from a conversation on /v/introductions I had and was wondering if there was anyone else who could provide me with a little information and some direction.
I'm currently planning on crosstraining into a cybersecurity field as a permanent career. As far as the area of cybersecurity that I would like to be in, I'm interested in penetration testing and development of security software tools to aid in the prevention of real penetration threats.
A little information about myself: I'm currently working as an electrical civil engineer in the United States Air Force and, as mentioned above, am planning on crosstraining into a more cybersecurity oriented career field. I currently have no degrees and only two certifications: electrical engineering (journeyman level) and an ASE automotive technician certification.
I'm seeking out any information on what I college/university courses I need, certifications I need to obtain and the type of cybersecurity career field that focuses on what I've mentioned above.
If anyone has any information about any of this, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you! I hope to enjoy my time here in this subverse community!
