@dan_k

I suspect that the "something went wrong" page started triggering when Imgoat ran out of disk space, same as the "Internal Server Error" warning. However, I never encountered that particular message, so I can't be 100% sure. Regardless, Imgoat should be working again. I doubled our storage space to give it some breathing room. Please test it out and let me know how it goes.

See above.

To address @scandalous-goat, the image hosts of ages past went down for a number of reasons. However, because running an image host is time-consuming and expensive, I'm guessing the biggest reason most go dark is because the admin called it quits. Nothing nefarious. Examples:

slimgur - organized attack - some goons from Reddit uploaded their CP collection to the site and reported it to the slimgur's host, causing said host to overreact and pull the plug. slimgur was hosted on a rented server so it didn't have much recourse. this occurred during the FPH epoch.

sli.mg - disk full, admin called it quits - a successor to slimgur, it soon found a home here on Voat, becoming so popular that most outgoing links were to sli.mg at one point. however, it ran out of space, and was abandoned without a trace.

imgoat - still active - introduced in the wake of sli.mg's destruction, imgoat has so far survived a small number of attacks, including a DDoS and the occasional phishing scheme. has experienced prolonged downtime more than once, making users nervous. some retard on /pol/ claims to have hacked the site, but since 4chan is nothing but retards and pedos, these claims remain unsubstantiated.

imgJar.co - admin called it quits - also introduced as a sli.mg replacement, imgJar.co is a somewhat unique item on this list. atko, the dude who created Voat, started it as a pet project, running it at around the same time he took a backseat approach to running Voat. abandoned due to unknown reasons, guessing cost or time-related.

imgtc - still active - founder said he wanted to make the most popular image host on the internet. imgtc has been attacked, but remains stable. not a bad image host, but a somewhat controversial one, due to the founder deleting his Voat account, creating another one, then leaving again. imgtc also compresses uploaded images for some reason.

kek.gg - admin called it quits - kek.gg came out of nowhere, soon taking the lead as most popular image host on Voat and pushing Imgoat to 2nd. cool domain name, and the frog theme was also sick. was a decent image host while it lasted, until one day the creator posted on Gab that imagehosting was being shut down indefinitely. still down.

catbox.moe - active - more like a dropbox or mega.co.nz alternative than a traditional image host, but I'm including it because it's still a popular option. can host various files. has a lot of supporters on patreon, so might not disappear overnight. creators owns his own server. somewhat controversial due to the creator claiming he doesn't care too much about Voat traffic. also doesn't remove metadata.

I figured it was a full error. Thanks for the update and img host rundown... saved for future linking.
