Is imgoat open source?

There's been a lot of debate about whether or not to make Imgoat open source. I've weighed the pros and cons. The Javascript, etc., used is viewable, the entire site is not open source.

What language are you using on the back end? Just wondering :-)

I won't click or upvote if imgur is used. I have to say imgoat is extremely simple and easy to use. I was sightly confused which link I should use to add the URL to the post that would show the photo without having to click open another link. I read somewhere on here to choose the one ending in the file extension. Eg. .jpg, . png. I am just adding this in case anyone else was unsure.

Thanks for the input. When in doubt, use the "direct link".

Is it possible to leave the detailed camera info in the exif? Like camera make, camera settings, things like that? It's useful to photographers who want to set up a similar shot. Feed an image taken with a DSLR to this site to see what I mean: http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi

LOL and here were others such as myself who were clamoring for all exif and other identifying info to be removed automatically.

maybe a checkbox to leave exif in there? (disabled by default, of course)

That would work just as well? The exif standard doesn't change too often so maybe there could be a way to do levels? Like "remove none", "remove all", and "retain camera settings" with any explanation of what each level would scrub and why? Of course, things like geographic coords should be remove but some cameras allow you to embed copyright info so that could be useful in defence of take-down requests

Are direct links still thumbnail-sized (aka low resolution), or are they full-sized?

When you upload an image, the side bar has a list of links. Under the direct url link, could you please change
https://imgoat.com/thumb/87ff679a2f/3005_md.jpg to
https://imgoat.com/uploads/87ff679a2f/3005.jpg

Uploads gives us a much larger version than Thumb.

This has been on the "to do" list for a while.

Now it's on the "done" list. Thanks for the encouragement and support.

You should have this feature randomly turn on and off to lure people into getting doxxed.

No, the EXIF was stored in the image, not in our database.

Atko's imgjar.co still keeps EXIF. There's nothing really wrong with it; if you don't want EXIF, it's trivial to remove yourself before uploading a photo to the internet. I've just implemented automatic EXIF removal as an added convenience to our users, so they no longer have to do that.
