I would like to report this OP as spam

There should be no special ulimate downvote button whic is what the spam report is.

Your anger at a partculary post is your issue.

I'm talking about obvious site/blog advertising spam, not about a post I'd have a difference of opinion about.

Edit: If spammers are left unchecked, voat will devolve into a shitty marketplace, not a community space.

I would rather skip over 100 amazon product links (some of which I like anyway and would check out) than have one unpopular comment or commenter censored.

Preventing "spam" was the excuse that started moderation on reddit and now its a censored wasteland. There was NEVER any spam on reddit. I was there from day one.

Spam is not a problem.

Whennyou say spam you just mean stuff you don't think others should post but that other people might like.

That would work. That's all I'd want to happen anyway. I think that's what used to happen anyway. The post/comment was intact. The mod would get an automated message stating someone reported the post/comment as spam. The mod would then have the option of acting on the post/comment or not.

Experience with Reddit has provven mods re no defense against controlling tyranny.

In fact mods become controlling tyranny.

The function of the report spam button could be altered to prevent its use as a 'superdownvoat'

for example by moving the posts to /v/whatever/
