I feel like I'm missing something (kinda hoping I am) but currently it seems like once you make or are given a sub (manually, via /v/subverserequest) you are basically stuck with that sub. All philosophical and ethical conversations about choice and conviction aside, this seems like an undesired "feature."
There are sub moderation options that are only available to the top mod and there doesn't seem to be a way to allow any other mod access to them. Further, if a top mod wants to give away their sub without necessarily abandoning it there doesn't seem to be a way to do that.
According to the FAQ, a top mod must show activity in the sub at least once per 30 days otherwise the sub is considered abandoned. This essentially implies that the only way to transfer any sub to a new owner, the current owner has to willfully neglect the sub for 30 days, another user has to request in /v/subverserequest, wait the usual 2-3 week lead time for busy @Atko to service those requests, then make it through the checks he might have and possibly get turned down (even when the owner actually wants to give the sub away). This seems like a really clunky way to go about something as simple as giving away your sub, which is why I suspect I might be missing something.
Edit: I love typos in the submission text (form == from).

I agree, there should be a simple way to do this. If there is another mod present, the top mod should be able to leave and the second mod automatically moves up to top mod by default, unless they choose someone else upon leaving. Having the ability to change mod levels would make even this step unnecessary though unless it is skipped on exit or the top mod wants his other mods to have more permissions.
