Are you suggesting 0 minutes between comments? Voat is not a real-time chat (although we have that feature in every sub sidebar).

Allowing users to submit content with no cooldown is absolutely out of the question. We had this before and when this was abused (by a good standing account with positive CCPs), it became a serious issue. Can you show me ONE website (with decent userbase of 20.000+ users) where there are absolutely no limits imposed? Reddit has 9 minutes for new user accounts and I'm pretty sure they have other limits in place as well.

We may need to lower the limit, but getting rid of it is well, not possible.

It should be somewhere along the lines of the average length of time it takes people to write a X character reply.

Because really, the only time I run into it, and it is absolutely frustrating when I do, is when I get a few different replies in my inbox at once and I go through one at a time to respond to them.

Maybe something like what you did in terms of link/discussion posting. Where it is 30 seconds between but you can only do a certain number in a longer period of time to keep someone from spamming every 30 seconds indefinitely.

Sounds reasonable. The timer should be taken down to say, 10 seconds when user has positive CCP in target subverse. If user reaches negative CCP in said subverse, the timer should go back up to 2+ minutes. This way, if someone decides to go nuts and spam comments, the community should be able to downvote a few of the said comments and the timer would kick in automatically. This needs some thought but we'll get it done. I too am annoyed with 2 minute delay (especially when replying from inbox).

Can it be adjusted algorithmically based on some combination of account age and SCP/CCP? Also, does the system currently make any distinction between inbox replies and replied from the thread itself? As discussed here, I think the issue really is mostly with inbox replies.

Are you 100% sure that there is no spam prevention mechanism on 8chan such as captcha? There's a big difference with having no time interval and using captcha vs not having a time interval and not using captcha. As far as I know, 8chan uses infinity and default config file included in that repo contains spam/flood prevention settings as you can see here.

I feel the two minutes is fair. I don't even notice it half the time because I actually read the articles and comments before posting a response.

We can split the difference and maybe users with a certain reputation can comment without wait. That would be a realistic solution.

A simple rule of thumb: If someone thinks what they have to say is of such dire importance that the forum can't wait two minutes to read it, they are probably wrong.

...because it's impossible to enjoy a busy topic with two minutes between comments.

No, it's not.

I have to agree. It's very unrealistic to be posting so much with such short intervals. 120 seconds is a very short period.

Agreed, it's annoying. Not enough to make me leave though.

Well, it's good to be talkative, it's even better to be thoughtful.

I'm wondering if there could be a lesser limit for moderators of a sub. I created a new sub, and I'm trying to reply to comments to get discussion going, and I've already had to wait for the 2 minute cooldown.
