Actually, having voat setup as a p2p site might not be a bad thing and a way to move forward and differentiate itself from reddit...

Would have to tread carefully with p2p. Once people can help 'host' the site, you have to worry about manipulation of the site through nefarious 'helpers'. Just like many Tor nodes are run by people who are very interested in breaking / monitoring Tor, or torrents are joined by anti-torrent groups to out participants or willingly serve bad blocks of data. One thing that could happen is a bunch of clients decide to get along for 5 minutes and then pretend their connection is bad when data is requested. A steady stream of nefarious participants could degrade the site's performance significantly and drive people away.
