I think a potential problem here is when a submission is shared to communities with different styles/rules. Then I guess it could be able to choose if you just want to post to multiple subverses at once without linking the comments.

Yeah, that would definitely be a concern. I would support disabling this for new members in a similar way that upvoats are limited.

This is the way USENET worked. A comma-delimited list would define the subverses in which the submission would be visible. On USENET, it was also possible to control the Newsgroups in which the replies were visible. Just because you replied to a post that was crossposted didn't mean that the reply had to be crossposted, but that was in part because there wasn't a distinction between "submissions" and "comments."
