Go into your settings (the gear), and check, 'Disable custom subverse styles.'

Voila - a block button for every subverse!

Thats all fine and dandy, but /u/AthiestComic states that he would like to see the CSS on other subs. I whole-heartedly agree that its a shitty thing to do to remove the block button.

Couldn't you disable CSS, block the subverse, then reneable CSS?

I think there's a reasonable alternative to be had. I posted this idea last night. Basically, we need the ability to manage our blocklists the same way we can edit our subscriptions. In addition, on the "manage blocklist" page, we should see a list of the subs we've recently visited, with the option to block or unblock them separately.

The objective should be to give the end user the tools to block objectionable subverses. The objective should not be to micromanage custom CSS options.

Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I like that link. Saving for later.

You don't have to keep the setting that way, but I don't think that I should have to go through that process to do something that should be simple.

You're missing the point. OP's request is to stop deception of the users and manipulation of the rules. Yes there is a workaround, but the request here is to stop a certain unacceptable behavior.

You nailed it. Reddit uses deceptive practises and Voat is supposed to be better than that.

Oh my lord I had no idea this existed. Thank you! I hate custom styles. All they do is move shit around so I can't find it.

They should never ban a subverse for something as trivial as this. A better punishment would be for the admins to disable custom css for subs that abuse it.

Disagree with the banning of subverses for such a trivial issue — next time, try messaging the mods of any such subs. You’ll be surprised what a little communication can achieve.

Yeah, first step should never ever be a ban. Communication is key- lack of it is what drove angry Redditors here.

Are there many subverses that hide the block button? Just curious.

I've seen a couple, it's annoying now and will be much more so in the future as traffic increases. It's annoying, why would you WANT to stop people who would block your sub? They obviously will not be joining or contributing anything positive, so let them remove the sub from their /v/all feed

Mods are naturally on a power trip. They want as much attention as they can get. God forbid if yo disagree with them.

There are more and more of them everyday. I've finally decided to just disable custom CSS all the time - which is a shame because of all the work mods of subverses do to customize their areas.

I'd love for us to not be so eager to ban everything. Can we try removing the word "ban" from our vocabulary for a while? Have you people learned nothing?

Banning a subverse just because of some CSS witchcraft? Fucking disgusting. This isn't reddit. I can't believe this got so many upvoats, it goes completely against the principles of Voat.

Hey, /v/pics mod here, unless the other mod acted without telling me (unlikely as he has been inactive) the block button was not hidden on purpose. In fact no changes to the CSS were made during the duration of your post so I'm not sure how it suddenly came back by itself.

Also, /v/nfl's block button seems to be right there for me, albeit smaller.

There is this comment around line 616 of your custom CSS:

/*---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------DO NOT HIDE "BLOCK" BUTTON !!!! ----------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*/

Any idea who did that?

I do not know, I'm assuming it was @koolstardawgs, but he's been inactive for a week. Perhaps lurking? The CSS was customized by the creator of Scribble for the sub and I merely pasted it in (I don't know much CSS). But I don't remember the block button ever being hidden, but maybe I just wasn't looking for it.

Hey I'm a mod over at /v/nfl and this issue was handled by us a week ago. It was pointed out by one of our users here https://voat.co/v/NFL/comments/274891/1017383

@AtheistComic, just want to let you know that we handled this a while back and is no longer an issue.

Hey @oaken thanks for responding. This is confusing because the block button on /v/pics was gone but now it's back. I wonder if there is a reason for this and it would be interesting to hear from a Voat dev about this. I wonder if Voat has had an intrusion or if the devs were working on the CSS code? The reason I say intrusion is because sometimes through JS querries it's possible to alter code and xss into a site through an object like a button. Hopefully the admins will shed some light.

Banning is bad. No banning. There are better ways to solve this problem without banning. I agree that the Block button should be visible on all subverses, but NO BANNING!
