Then why fucking call it all? Its not all minus what you don't like. All means everything; this isn't goddamn reddit and there's no popular page. Front and all is what you get, now do some subvoat curating and stop complaining.

[–] middle_path 1 points 11 points (+12|-1) ago

Gotta say I do agree. However, it's every few days a brand new anon sub is made that spams. Even then, it's easy enough to block/ignore.

[–] NinjaNipples 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

its only sucks when the MSM news spammers kick into gear

[–] bamex 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Front isnt popular? WTF makes it front?

[–] Armpit_and_Ass 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Front is front because back when this was a pure reddit clone that's what reddit had at the time.

Your front is your front, made up of the boards you're subbed to.

All is everything as it's posted and voted on in real time across the whole site.

The main problem with the default front is that it's facebook-tier shit memes that have been cropped and resized and watermarked so many times that most of them look like a finger painting done by a retarded arthritic blind man that's just woken up from a 35 year coma. The secondary problem is that any idiot with a half-baked idea (like this shitty, useless post) and 26 upvotes can make it to the default front. The third problem with the front page is that the content only changes maybe every third day. You look at it today and look at it tomorrow, it's pretty much the same page, maybe with the posts in a different order.

Which is why people use /v/all. The site is almost to the point where, during peak hours, you can load into /v/all/new, see a page of posts, refresh it, and get a totally different page of links. So /v/all/new has its uses.

IMO, where regular /v/all falls flat is not only is it all the stupid shit from your own subs, and all the stupid shit from the default subs, but plus it's all the porn and tentacle rape and people beating off to cartoons and other unsavory things.

[–] Wharleas 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

See, if OP wasn't a fag, instead of bitching about v/all doing exactly what you'd expect and showing all posts, he would ask for creation of v/non_anonymous. With a better name obviously, I suck at names.

Anon subs didn't really turn out as intended now did they?

[–] Le_Squish 3 points 5 points (+8|-3) ago

I know right? They need help embracing the dark hidden abyss they were meant to be.

[–] PuttItOut 1 points 4 points (+5|-1) ago

Help me figure out someone to blame for anon subs... the burden of responsibility it too great for me.

[–] CameraCode 2 points 2 points (+4|-2) ago

Cause all legit users just post as normal. There is no use case for anonymous posting for people who aren't shills or bots.

[–] Fullmetal 3 points 0 points (+3|-3) ago  (edited ago)

WRONG!

I allow anonymous posts on /v/wiccan for religious reasons.

Anonymity and Wiccanism have a long history. Anonymity has protected more witches and Wiccans from persecution than anything else. For many Wiccans being able to maintain their anonymity is what allows them to practice their faith, and participate in the community. There are many Wiccans in the broom closet, and revealing their identity (or irl doxxing) is one of the few things we'd consider a "sin."

[–] Dismember 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

They do prevent low-level actors from targeting and silencing opinions here on Voat, through the tried and true method of downvoting an account into silence. Unless of course that's the issue everyone has with the anon subs and, I assume, the QRV people. In that case it will be interesting to see what you do about this, or don't do, as the case may be. The argument here seems pretty thin otherwise, since the OP can just block that sub from his v/all, unless I'm mistaken.

[–] The_Venerable 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Maybe make it an option, a toggle for "Hide anon subs in all"

[–] bdmthrfkr [S] 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I don't think that that goes far enough, without being able to see an accounts post history you have no way to see where that account stands.

We have a shill problem and anon subs only exacerbate it.

[–] Comfy_PrizonSlipperz 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

the option to block or not is better than all out banning, isn't it?

Yeah I also prefer being able to deanonymize people when they say things I don't like.

[–] MrBunnyVest 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

Yeah, I'm kinda tired of full pages of nothing but anon all posts bashing anything that's not ultra left wing garbage first thing in the morning. It's just like when Amalek would go on those fucking rampages where we couldn't see anything else. They just get downvoted anyways, so why bother?

[–] NotHereForPizza 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Can QRV Please stop getting so much exposure?

I could have sworn we've had this conversation hundreds of times already.

Also, you can block subs.

[–] AlarmClockandRadio 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

We know how to block the subs that don't support our preferred political views. Bitches actively block subs that don't support their preferred political views. What kind of person tries to get anonymous subs blocked?

[–] KVD 2 points 2 points (+4|-2) ago

Agreed. There are plenty of existing sites to go be anonymous.

[–] CameraCode 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

What is even the purpose of having anonymous posts on Voat? Making an account doesn't require anything, your username is already completely anonymous.

The only use is if you don't want any flak for posting something edgy that people don't agree with, but that doesn't fit in with the concept of a voting website. If Voat was designed to shield users from criticism, it shouldn't have had voting in the first place.

[–] KVD 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

You said it @cameracode!

[–] YoHomie 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago  (edited ago)

I don't think you need a lot of anonymous subs on a truly free speech driven site. Besides, aren't we nearly anonymous anyway? I mean nobody really knows that I'm George Soros.
