This is a good idea. I like this. Their spamming will be far less effective when they’ll have to break their links and rely on users copy/pasting and fixing it themselves.

I also agree that the bar should be set low at 10ccp, or even +1ccp. The downvotes are immediate and will quickly wipe out any built up ccp very quickly. And if they try to farm up their ccp beforehand, since spammers are so easy to identify, it will be easy to check their comment history and report any ccp inflation tactics being used.

Well, a couple high profile high CCP accounts have been hacked/hijacked AFAIK cough 9-11 cough.

[–] piratse 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

Yah that 9-11 account was for sure sold. Make sure to DV any comments of them talking out of their ass.

Sure, that @9-11 seems like a total bot to me:

John gives a unique perspective as the Apostle whom Jesus loved. He was also the only apostle who was with Christ during the crucifixion. I'm not downplaying the power of the synoptic gospels, and they are still grouped together in my suggestion as they should be. The last reason is that the author of Luke's gospel also wrote the book of Acts, there is added value in reading Luke/Acts back-to-back in a similar style. -- https://voat.co/v/whatever/2557972/12841392

Edit, added a link to the comment by @9-11

This will discourage controversial content. And encourage circle jerk

Fuck you & your censure bs.

Or to prevent spammers from making new spam account for every comment. Set the same 10 CCP limit for posting comments with links.

I think this is best, to prevent new accounts from being able to insta-spam upon creation. This kind of rationale is exactly why CCP requirements were introduced.

But he can still keep doing it without any problems.

Technically if he has negative CCP he should only be able to post 10 spam comments a day, but still, all of those comments can contain links, you're correct.

Technically if he has negative CCP he should only be able to post 10 spam comments a day...

Sadly that can be circumvented easily with alt accounts.

Don't fucking turn this place into reddit. This is how it begins.

[–] Doglegwarrior 3 points -3 points (+0|-3) ago

The joke threads are the front line of the reddit faggots we have tons of them here ruining discussion

[–] TheKobold 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

People have been making joke threads since before reddit. Sounds like you want to censor speech.

[–] 12835919 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

They're already breaking the global "no spam" rules, so shouldn't they just be outright banned? Obvious JIDF shills and CIA niggers should be added to the global ban list too.

Requires oversight. Won't happen.

Nothing hurts a bit of extra redundancy.

This just makes a joke of voats free speech mantra. Scenario: New user comes on, needs 10ccp to start a topic. He posts in politics and news because pretty much every other sub is dead. He has to post stuff he doesn't agree with or he'll get negative ccp. He has to pretend trump is a genius. Finally gets +50ccp. Starts a thread which might not be popular on voat but is big news like new charges on Manafort. People downvote and go into his previous comments to downvote him so he can't post. Other users pretend voat is not an echo chamber and actually has free speech. He should have started a thread on Trudeau's eyebrows.

[–] L3D [S] 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Yeah, sadly there is that problem.

[–] john_marston69 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I'm in too minds about this whole CCP stuff.

On one hand, you're blocking people from pretty much everything except comments until they've got 10 "CCP", which could actually deter them from the site, especially if no one is voting "up" your comments... But on the other hand, spam can be a problem on sites like this.

Surely there's gotta be a better way to prevent spam?
