Could back fire with spam armies lurking

How so? Either it's spam and you don't want to see it or it's something you don't like and you don't want to see it. Any other scenarios?

Bad idea, posts that go against the popular right wing will just disappear

No, you misunderstand. It would be a personal hidden from view, not global.

Ah, that makes more sense

Sometimes when I try to upvoat, it decides that I wanted to downvoat...this would piss me off more then that does already

Wait till you refresh your page?

[–] Baconmon 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

No, that would be annoying on voat most of the time.. I assume voat isn't going to be like this with spam every where for the rest of eternity, so eventually voat will be back to normal some how, and I don't want posts just disappearing just because I pushed down-vote..

Why would you go back to a post you don't like?

[–] Baconmon 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I probably wouldn't necessarily, but for some reason I like seeing the front page as how it actually is, and not just tailored to me.. And there have been a few times when I go back to a post that I down-voted because I decided I really do want to make a comment on it..

I understand where you are coming from too, so it would be nice to have an option for it I suppose, but I think having it mandatorily hidden when you down-vote some thing is doing too much assuming on the user's behalf.. "Well they down-voted it, so this user probably doesn't want to look at this ever again"..

Couldn't you make the same case for up-voting?.. "Well, this person up-voted it, so they are probably done reading and commenting on it, so let's hide the article next time they refresh the front page."

Same reason I wouldn't want comments that I down-vote to automatically be hidden or collapsed.. I still want to see what is actually there, whether I down-vote their comment or not..
