I think it's very likely accounts are already colluding as a team on voat, though the present gaming of the system is likely in support of hivemind opinions.

Of course opposing ideologies are well-known for doing the same. I really hope the admins have sufficient skill in data-analysis to be able to detect anomalous patterns.. but revealing any detection methods they have would just help smart attackers get smarter. Even if they can reliably detect underhand stuff, taking action has some blowback associated with it, especially when you can't explain your reasoning.

Trying to prevent system gaming on anonymous forums seems almost unsolvable - and once AI gets to a certain threshold ability, places like this will have to adopt severe adaptations or become worthless. I'm interested in these types of (perhaps unsolvable) problems.

Disclaimer: If we’re conversing, I will soon fall silent. I may want to continue, but because many users are unpopular here and have less than 100 CCP, we are temporarily banned as soon as we make 10 comments in a day. Voat does not respect free speech, but I'm grateful for recent comments stating an intention to improve things.

It's an arms race bud, and a quite lucrative one.

Millions are being spent on this, from 'Correct The Record' to 'ShareBlue' and beyond that ship has sailed.

Their code has improved from having almost no bot detection to having pretty excellent defense for a free site. However someone running 100 sock puppet accounts (say hypothetically from an office at Eglin AFB spreading deep state propaganda that Bush and Obama legalized) can get around any bot detection systems. Whenever a block or unexpected result comes up the bot notifies the operator and they take screen control and do the captcha or whatever.

Then there are very good paying jobs if you want to retain your dignity and morality which is 'White Hat'. We run our own bots to analyze and detect when people are exploiting free speech by running propaganda operations.

Sometimes you can get a gig just to Doxx a person or a group who has libeled - so that the person or group can be sued for their anonymous slander. The ones that pay more though are simply when someone is tired of all the lies and they want to do something about it - they pay handsomely for discovering who is running ops against them.

Go get your ethical hacker certification and start diving the deep web. You'll be amazed at how artificial our entire reality is and quickly realize Voat is already deeply exploited by the liars.
