I hadn't been a Redditor for too long (maybe a little over a year) but even I can see that they are changing quite a bit (for monetization), and things are getting out of hand. More and more people are certainly feeling displeased by it all.

I think you're absolutely right. I've been a Redditor for 3 or so years and lurked before that, and although people always complained about one thing or another there hasn't been this big a shift in administration until recently. The move towards censoring/curating content and trying to better monetize the site is turning off a lot of users. I don't think we'll see a huge Digg era exodus, but we'll probably see users trickle away in small bursts at the news of the latest heavy-handed measure.

Monetization of an otherwise beloved website is actually why I moved from one social platform to another (Reddit)...I am so fed up with good sites getting greedy after they build up a loyal userbase, after years and years of dedication/loyalty, only to spit in the face of their users by messing up shit to squeeze blood from stone (money from wallets) and to pander to corporate audiences. It could happen to Voat too in the future, but at least in the here and now that is not likely for at least a couple of years, and hopefully Voat knows not to make the same mistakes Reddit is making.
