#1 and #2 seem like really good ideas. Not sure about #3 though but I understand the reasoning.

I think it might work if it listed the top post from each subverse, sorted from highest upboats to lowest, and then it posted the second top post from each subverse.

It's still free speech. Consider the time your merit. We want to prevent spam accounts from taking over. Seriously not a big deal.

Isn't that why Voat exists in the first place?

I feel like this is just inherently a problem with the reddit-style of discussion. On BBS forums, your posts hold more weight when you've built a certain amount of credibility. If you have 10000 posts, people will likely know more about you and realize that you are an important part of the community. On chan boards, the content of your reply is all that matters. If you act like a faggot and are clearly new, you will be told to lurk moar. But on reddit, people are incentivized to make comments that appeal to the most popular opinion, even when that opinion is shit, because the most popular opinions get seen first. The least popular downvoted opinions get buried and made invisible even. The only reason why I made a voat account is because there doesn't really seem to be a huge base yet so these problems haven't started up here.

"but on reddit, people are incentivized to make comments that appeal to the most popular opinion, even when that opinion is shit, because the most popular opinions get seen first. "

Would a 1 to 10 rating grade instead of just upvote/downvote fix this issue?

Hear, hear. We don't need to be stricter with reforms. We still want the community to grow and so I'm totally fine with what we have now. People should just post content or be more active by actively participating in other subs.

If you have 1 and 2 you shouldn't need 3.

If it's a user setting it can be used to keep the spam down from a sub while still keeping it's posts on /v/all. I don't want to block them completely I just don't want their sub to be all I see. So making a user setting that I can limit how much a subs posts get seen can come in handy. And it would apply to all subs.

I like ideas 1 and 2, but not 3.

3 should be left up to the user. You can block subverses, it solves the spam problem and doesn't put arbitrary restrictions on what can be see in /v/all

Agreed. #3 should be a user setting. Have a checkbox for limit sub posts and put a field where users can type a number. Limit to 3 will do just that. That way you don't have to outright block a sub.

Combine 1 and 2 and make it that you need to be active for at least a month before you can become a mod, 3 months before you can make your own subverse.

And being active implies a certain level of scp (to make a subverse) and cpp (to become a mod).

I like this idea. Making an account and forgetting about it for a month should not be valued as much as a user who participated for an entire month.

Numbers 1 and 2 are good ideas, but Number 3 could use a little work. Sometimes something big happens or there is breaking news that keeps changing and we might need a lot of posts on the topic -- would not be a good idea to throttle this capability.

1 and 2 are great ideas, I absolutely support account age and SCP/CCP limits for moderating/creating subs.

3 sucks, delete it.
