This is a bug with the feature. Fixing it is on the to-do list.

I don't think that the "block" button is functional yet.

If this is something new and therefore it's not working properly - then sorry, my bad!

Blocking works in /new and I believe /top. Not working in /hot is a bug. I've fixed it in a PR on github, just waiting for the review and acceptance.

When I joined a month ago there were a handful of features that were "coming" including the ability to block subs/individuals, subverse chatting, etc. The buttons and elements were put in as placeholders, but they didn't do anything.

If you block a subverse it won't appear in /v/all/new, but it will appear in /v/all.

The blocking is broken in /v/all/hot.

But what should I do if I don't want to see ALL submissions from /v/deadcats for example?
And what the purpose of the button "block" now?

Well this is past the deletion so I do not know what was originally said. V/deadcats needs an auto NSFW tag as it is blatantly braking the rules and should be reprimanded as it is possibly being done just to scare new users from Voat.

Well /r/all is supposed to be /r/all after all so I think it should stay but maybe there should be an /v/subverses where you can see all the subverses that haven't blocked.

edit: /v/all

Well, there are some very specific subverses where some people like to post strange content they like. And I'm okay with it. And you don't normally see it on /all because there are a lot of the more popular things (unless you browsing "new", of course).
But sometimes when there is not so many submissions you will find a lot more of "spacedicks" etc than you want to see :/

Yeah that's true, maybe just make /v/all customizable or have some options to it? Or maybe just once the block button works it will remove them, I don't know.

For me I attend /v/all when I've consumed my subscribed verses which are pretty narrowed to specific niche interests. I use /v/all to escape my focus for a bit - but that doesn't mean I want to be plagued with verses like "meow_irl", "me_irl", "mfw", etc. Such subs are low-input high-output and frequent unfiltered front pages due to their "hot" status polluting some people's natural discovery.

inb4 "That's what Random is for" - When there end up being hundreds/thousands of verses for every personal purpose (there are some on Reddit that exist solely for inciting flame wars to between two specific users) Random becomes a bit of a waste.

TL;DR: MRW, MFW, *_irl, (insert-themed-imgur-boards) ruin /v/all for some people
