That would still allow a spontaneous brigade of a single subject from outsiders who care nothing about being engaged in the voat community, only the topic they are targeting.

I admit that the limitations kind of feel like they suck. But they don't suck so much that I feel inclined to go hunting for material just to buff up my stats. I prefer a natural progression.

And in a way the slow lead in kind of encourages discussion versus treating everything you see like a Ceasarian choice.

I mean, you aren't the first to mention that. I personally like it. It is not perfect but I also feel that just letting anyone come on and create an account to downvote something is not a productive way to do it.

If you are an active member, you get to 100 and it is no big deal. Just trust that somebody with 100 CCP sees the stuff you think deserves a downvote and does the honor for you.

I think we should only get 3 honks a month on the car horn. Then, someone cuts you off, you press the horn, and nothing happens. You're like, "Crap! I wish I hadn't seen Ricky on the sidewalk!"

Yeah, it's kind of weird trying to upvote or downvote and having the little pop-up appear saying,"Nope you noob". But honestly, I'm OK with it. I'll get the points eventually. It won't kill me to have my votes limited for a little.

I like the way it is currently. In fact I believe further controls are needed for downvoats.

Downvoats should be reserved for truly inappropriate content/conduct and should have consequences beyond a point lost. Both for people who abuse downvoats and the recipient of downvoats.

The current open forum format caused by peoples lack of ability to downvoat is awesome. Moderators should be given the ability to forgive negative points on mistake posts, unpopular opinions, and unpopular threads.

What do you mean by "forgive?" Can you clarify?

Basically the ability to tag posts/threads and ignore negative karma points.

For example on reddit r/keto(ketoscience&ketogains). I was often downvoated for unpopular but correct opinions because the knowledge of the subscribers was not up to date, and carried with it many ideas from other diets that were incorrect.

Linux related subs had a lot of reactionary voting based on what distro you liked, what DE, opinion on systemd....etc.

IMO there should be something in place to limit that kind of behavior because it adds nothing to a discussion, and contributes a mindset that is toxic.

This is a community for fun, news, and discussion, not a popularity contest, not wack a mole, not "ok who's my next target.
