Sorry for being super contrary to a bunch of hot posts in this sub, but really, should /all be /all? And not /notall?
I see a lot of posts from people suggest very reasonable way to make /all nice and clean, and spam free etc.
I'm looking to get a feel from them of "why" and how they reconcile restricting the mass-sub-viewing system in this open/free speech focused forum.
Perhaps offer the filtered /all as another sub? /clean or something?
EDIT: Thanks to everyone for the responses, I would give you soviet union points, but I've been cut off for the day, so sorry for that. if I magically get another 15 points from this thread, I promise to go and provide e-peen based acknowledgement.

How isn't shitposting dealt with on the sub (or even the post) level.
if it's shit, how is it not getting nuked by a mod, or getting enough upvotes to be appearing

Whats the point of calling it all if its not all, Why not just call it some.

My issue is that when a sub doesn't play by any sort of rules, why should it get any shine from /v/all?
If you need 15000 CCP to downvote, you are now playing on an unever playing field, same with not having a downvote button. Why should this actions be rewarded with a higher place on /all? It is all about /all being a fair front page, and it wouldn't be with these subs not allowing downvotes.

Maybe a points requirement for downvoating or banning downvoating is a bad idea. When i click all, i want to see content from all subverses.

I am with you but /all would just be focusing on subs that have those rules.
I would be okay with getting rid of both the points requirement and removing the downvote button hiding. I think that would be ideal.

/all /isn't/ the frontpage though. /all is (or should be, I guess) /all.
I'm a huge advocate of the frontpage being /all, though, but I do like the logic of the suggested restrictions to /all I've been seeing, so perhaps use that for the frontpage and leave /all to be /all!

But we don't have a front page so /v/all kind of becomes that. Still don't think subs should be rewarded for getting rid of downvotes.

I've grown to like not having to wade through the shit to get to the good posts. But I think there should be a more-all all.

I've been thinking, since I /want/ the frontpage to be /all, but I realise this is messy as fuuuuck and not a good frontpage, split the difference: use the filters that everyone is suggesting on the frontpage version of /all, and the have /all be /all.
