HAES does not imply that anyone is automatically healthy. There are (allegedly) people out there claiming that HAES means "all fat people are healthy, always." This is not true. HAES only wants you to be healthier.
THE RULES
- This sub assumes Heath At Every Size works. Do not insist otherwise.
- Pictures, images, and memes are not allowed.
- Asking how someone can be called healthy is not allowed. We are not medical professionals. If you think you're not healthy, see a doctor.
- Anything that denigrates, bullies, or shames people of any size, fat or thin, will be removed.
- No name calling.
- No rude behaviour. If you cannot act like an adult you cannot be here.
ABOUT HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE
HAES encourages everyone to eat better, more nutritious foods, exercise regularly, and stop hating yourself and feeling guilt about your weight. HAES says to ignore the scale and fussing over calorie counting and instead concentrate on eating nutritious foods in reasonable portions. It says to stop thinking about foods as "bad" or "good," since restricting your diet only leads to craving so-called "bad" foods and increases the risks of binging and other unhealthy behaviours.
HAES is not a guarantee of good health. It is merely a way to be a healthier person. Some people find they lose weight. Some find they don't. But in the end, they are developing healthier habits that can last a lifetime.
SO THERE.
