They NEED to make this competitive against the other consoles. It doesn't need to beat them, but it needs to be in their league.

The new Zen Architecture will give Nintendo's comming console a humongous leap over the ps4/xbone. At least I hope so.

Hopefully AMD can benefit enough from SoC contracts to stay in business. I just hope they don't slowly fade away from the desktop discrete GPu/CPU business for mobile APU/SoC design.

This article is wrong; Nintendo hasn't made any x86 jump yet, the Wii U has a PowerPC CPU. It's not x86 compatible and never will be.

Article quote: "Nintendo has already made the jump from IBM’s PowerPC to x86-based (AMD and Intel) architecture. That means that games written for Nintendo’s current Wii U console will be x86 compatible. It would make sense for Nintendo to continue its relationship with AMD and continue to use x86 architecture in its next-generation design, which Nintendo announced would be called the NX."

Watch it be way more powerful than the advanced toaster oven tech in the PS4 and Xbone. That would be hilarious.
