So there I was, me and pops, checking out some old abandoned mines around his house. There’s a shit ton of them where he lives, and we are walking about this coolie looking at all the old mining shit from the late 1800’s, early 1900’s that was left around there, when we round this corner of a rock out cropping and there’s a wild mule kicking it right in front of us. Like 10 foot away, maybe 12 hands high wild mule. It’ braays at us, stomps its foot and is snorting. Neither me or him have our pistols on us and it was a pretty serious “Oh shit, there’s no where to go besides down a cliff the fast and painful way fml” moment. So we outstretched our arms and backed down the trail till it was out of sight. Dad usually carries a Kimber pro carry 2, and im a fucking Glock (Registered TM) fag. But I realized this today. I really don’t think a rinky-dink 9 mill is going to do a whole lot to a fucking 1000lb animal. When we go out to do our mine exploring stuff, I have typically been concerned about cats (Fuck cats) and never have I considered coming across anything bigger than a 100lb boar. So my question is Voat, what caliber would u carry as a general wildlife protection gun, when you got boars, cats, and donkeys roaming about?
Ps. I’m really looking for a justification to purchase a 10mil, and I need you guys to talk me out of / or into, but a 10mil is quite the round, especially if you have to get it off quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Why in God's name were you guys not carrying?
[–] ARsandOutdoors [S] ago
No joke. One of the FEW times we was out in the wildness and not carrying. I honest to god always have Some type of fire arm with in arms reach, whether at the house, in the truck, or at any of my families houses. Trust me, I felt like a fucking idiot today. Dad too.

If you put enough 9mm on target it will stop a mule
[–] ARsandOutdoors [S] ago
This is true. But we wouldn’t of had the time to do that. It was one of those “Right the fuck now, or we are bailing off a cliff” moments.

10mm is best mm
but might i interest you in a smith and wesson model 629 snubnose 44
i was looking at that but somehow got a 22 instead lol
[–] ARsandOutdoors [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
God dammit. Why a 22. Those are way more plentiful and not as cool as a S&W.
Also, I have not been very impressed with the new S&W finishes as of late.
[–] clamhurt_legbeard ago
lol
i didnt have a 22 and just had a new baby
its for the baby
the fact that i took it hunting yesterday is immaterial lol

10mm for wild life bigger than a hog
Edit: since you're a Glock fag (no shame in that) get yourself a Glock 20

Lever-action rifle and a revolver both in .45 Colt with hollowpoint bullets. .45 Colt brass (at least the Starline stuff) can be safely loaded to magnum pressure levels, and a .45 bullet is going to make a serious impression on even a 1000lb animal.

Nice gun, little too long for what I was dealing with tho. Good choice tho!

When your dealing with big game velocity is you friend. A 9 mm out of a 10 inch barrel is better than a 308 out if a 1 inch barrel.
You carry a gun like this in a leg holster https://ibb.co/HCLd7VF
Or somthing kike this https://ibb.co/0Mk0dmv

Is there any reason you can't carry a rifle?
[–] ARsandOutdoors [S] ago
We was booze cruising the back trails behind his house. We had my AR in his buggy, but that was 100 or so yards behind us

So you don't need a new pistol you need to front sling that rifle when you are out there.
