SKS is cheap as well..Ammo's cheap...If its chinese the tapco 20 round mags have worked well so far for me.
AR-15 and 223 still better if ya got the dough though. Get Colt at least if ya can really afford it Daniel Defense are very nice from what I hear.

SKS chambered in that 7.62 though. Honestly comparing that vs 556. You might have further distance with 556. But if your good enough to be able to use that advantageously, in real time, consistently? You need to up into 308 or 30 aught. Which is again chambered as the 7.62 "near nine". They are all game enders, however the grain weight, speed and size of the 7.62 in any variation is more, absolute. Imo

I mean, tell me where I can find a SKS for $170, and I'll leap on that. OP's carbine may not be the belle of the ball, but it's hard to argue with a sub $200 gun that doesn't blow up on you, and puts the lead in a body-sized area down range.

That's a fair counter point. Cheapest I'm seeing SKS is 300. Might be able to find one for 250 at best I would imagine.
