We're all crazed nutjobs who fell for that whole constitutional "shall not be infringed" thing, that's how.

Safety classes are a great idea and I don't regret having [voluntarily] taken one. It was mostly super obvious stuff, but I still don't regret it. Making it compulsory sounds kind of like an infringement to me, but as previously stated, I'm clearly a nutjob.

I don't see a safety class as something that prevents you getting a gun. They should make it free or fairly cheap to be sure everyone can afford it. You probably already know that "It was mostly super obvious stuff" is not always very obvious for the average person, as the average person is fairly stupid. If you saw the hoops I have to get through in my country to get a gun.... I wish i'd just have to attend a safety class.

It was totally affordable, but I guess maybe that's just my perspective.

Except there's nothing stopping the government from redefining terms to create a de facto ban.
