They have their rights, you have yours. Fair's fair. Everyone was polite and acting like grownups, that's something to appreciate, too.

Thanks, I agree. I will not be going there, but fair IS fair.

It's not fair that you can't be armed as you are out in public, or face criminal charges. It would be fair if they told you to leave for any reason.

I also have my permit, but I don't really have the 'right' to carry as a habit. I have the 'right' to be unemployed, or to break the law. I don't have the right to carry and not tell my friends who I hang out with. There is no way to go downtown to have fun with non-gun people and then just assume you can have your gun with you.

Ideally, we'd get more people to be pro gun and businesses could have their own policies, but would not be able to get you in trouble with the law. There's no criminal penalty regarding a no knife sign, a no pencil sharpener sign, etc.

I'd also point out that it's not fair for women who take the train home at 1am to be unarmed. However, due to the current legal context (mr mohammad's family will sue the company if you shoot him in self defense) and due to the type of people who are attracted to working in HR ... people aren't going to be able to carry at work.

Agreed. It was a perfectly cromulent response.

Gun-free zone equals easy pickings for terrorists and nut clusters.

And into a zone with children and theater actors? Terrorists would love that because they are such easy targets also always so dramatic.

Give 'em an estimate on business lost.

Usually they care more about money than morals.

I thought about it, but my team is only a few people, so I decided against arguing with them.

Year's ago I used to buy a fair amount of jewelry from Jared's. When one day I walked up to the door and they had posted 30.06 signs so I didn't go in. There are a few places that I'm certainly not going unarmed, one of them is a jewelry store. So I sent them an email saying that I would not be shopping at their store until or unless they took the signs down. Which they didn't, I shop elsewhere now.

Yeah it makes no sense that some places where you're likely to be targeted for carrying high value items or sacks of cash want to make victims out of their visitors.

Yeah the the criminal that's going to come in and rob the place is going to see the sign and say "oh shit I can't go in their with this gun" and walk away. Yeah right. More likely he'll read the sign and say "oh great, there won't be anyone in there with a gun to shoot back at me, easy score".

Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Wont get in trouble unless you need to save a life....

That's a sign in Texas. The 30.06 sign makes it a class C misdemeanor, automatically.

Confusing title. 30.06 is the name of the business. Odd they are anti-firearms with a name like that.

That sounds like the city or state ordinance number. Looks like he blocked out the establishment name.

you are correct, I blotted out all names. 30.06 is the ordinance against concealed carry. I thought that was the same nationwide.

30.06 is the Texas statute that governs the carrying of concealed weapons. Similarly 30.07 is the statute that governs open carry in Texas.
