Well, it's been a month since I got ownership of the sub and about 3 weeks since I completely changed the rules and started moderating. The sub only had 500 subscribers when I took it over from the previous mod who hadn't logged on in 3 months, who in turn took it over from a mod that hadn't logged on in 9 months.
Supposedly there's a mod-log on voat that shows everything I've done since then, but I can't find it. If anybody knows where to see that, just link it in a comment somewhere.
My question to you guys is: what do you think about the state of the sub?
What, do you guys think specifically about the trial rule 6? Personally, I'd like to make it into a permanent rule because it's made the subverse much more firearms-oriented instead of politics-oriented. You just need to filter by "new" and scroll down to see when the rule kicked in, because we went from 90% blogspam and political links to 90% actual content pretty much instantly.
Also, in regards to rule 6, what do you think of self-posts about politics such as this thread or this thread? I'm of two minds on these because, on one hand, it ends up with posts that are about politics outside of the politics thread, which I think is no bueno. On the other hand, it generates a whole lot of discussion and people seem to enjoy them, so I'd hate to banish them to the political megathread as well.
Anyway, hopefully we can continue to make this community successful in the months to come. It's already exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.
