Good for you - Im british, and I went out and bought an assault spoon to defend myself with.

Not going to do much good, and I will get a hefty prison sentence if the police every find it on me.

Claim you carry it on yourself in case of random cereal cravings

Doesn't matter, it has to be an EU mandated safety spoon - no edges, no handle, made of soft non-weapons grade material (even plastic can be used to make a shiv) carried in a special locked carrybox and registered with the local authorities. You also have to attend a special spoon handling safety course every 6 months.

What are the laws on knifes/bows/crossbows ?

Well with swords, samurai swords are banned from purchasing (and blades over a certain length) yet other swords are legal to purchase. I don't really get it but there you go.

Knifes are the most common "weapon" so they have the most rules. Knives are illegal on the following criteria:

  • Any quick deploy knife is totally illegal, even owning it is illegal. Butterfly knives or button release knives. Big jail sentence if you get caught with one of these.

  • Carrying a knife in public with a blade of 3(?) inches or more is illegal

  • Carrying a knife in public with less than 3 inch blade but has a solid blade locking mechanism is illegal
  • Any fixed blade knife (dagger) in public is illegal, regardless of blade length

You are technically legally allowed to carry around a knife in public if the blade is less than 3 inches, and the blade doesn't lock out in an open position. I own a stainless steel spyderco kiwi which is technically legal to carry around. The reality is that the police will still confiscate it and try and charge you if they find it on you.

Crossbows are legal to buy and own if you are 18+, but you can't actually take them anywhere in public or use them for anything like hunting. I think bows are probably in a similar state.

Basically the takehome is that Britain is a complete nanny/police state, and the people don't have the right to defend themselves anymore - thats big governments job. Try and defend yourself and you will get a bigger jail sentence than the person breaking into your home or mugging you.

Got my 12 gauge loaded with alternating slugs and buckshot.

Got my 1911 loaded.

And my KaBar on my hip. Bring it on.

I also "forgot" to mention multiple other weapons and over a certain amount of ammo.

This post brought to you by Remington

You shouldn't need a reason to buy as much ammo as you can FYI.

Purchased a goodly amount of 12 gage slugs early this morning. I emptied out the buckshot they had on hand two days a go. I am ready Freddy.

Lol those gun shops love those rushes based on fear. If you own guns you should already be stocked with ammo. Don't get manipulated into it.
