The lawsuit was moronic, but sadly filed out of grief. Lucky gunner is protected by law, or the same reason that Ford isn't held responsible when somebody is killed in a hit and run. Somebody should have told them as much.

You are totally right. Desperately seeking scapegoats does not often end well. It could be very easy to blame the attorneys of the couple for not alerting them of the sure-shot lose of this case.

Pretty much everyone with a brain has realized the Brady Campaign used these people then left them in the wind when it came time to pay up the tab.
I feel bad for their loss. But how they thought going after a supply company was going to help the situation is beyond me. All I can surmise is their grief combined with their ignorance of law and how the firearm community in general buys bullets seem to be a big part of their being taken advantage of.
