If a court can narrowly decide a case, they usually will.
Bet that the NY law is ruled unconstitutional but will be a limited decision on the point of transporting gun for gun range transport and for out of state transport.
People are getting their hopes up on this one IMO.

Yeah, that is the ruling I expect. I haven't read any of the documents in this case. I am a bit surprised the DoJ wouldn't make the argument that the NYC law conflicts with 18 U.S.C. § 926A on interstate transport and is therefore preempted. Perhaps that argument opens a bigger kettle of fish since most jurisdictions have gun transport laws and it would potentially call them into question by blurring the lines of what is preempted and what isn't. Or maybe the NYC law already has an exception if the gun is being placed in interstate transport?

In some states, if you don't have a permit, then transporting your gun to a range is an exemption to the law requiring a permit.
And EXEMPTION, meaning YOU and I have to prove it.
Its all fucking bullshit.
