Prince Charles's Welcome To Lochaber

2/4 march on bagpipe. No exciting excuses today. I had a cut out in the beginning, so I'll probably submit a better version someday, hopefully.

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Squeaky bags!

The kid must be more independent or something, 'cause this is two weeks in a row you've graced us with your tunage.

[–] NoTrueScotsman 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

The kid is my hypeman, too. He forces strangers to dance or march to my playing. It's great!

[–] NoTrueScotsman 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Yeah, he's old enough to run around at the park with his dad while I practice now.

[–] nigger_plz 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Man you sure play that thing good. That sounds flawless. Excellent melody. Real hooky.

[–] NoTrueScotsman 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Thanks!

[–] sguevar 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Very interesting, had never heard a bagpipes solo besides the Braveheart's sound track ☻Liked it gave me some thoughts for next week.

[–] NoTrueScotsman 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Cool. Interestingly, though they show the Scottish highland greatpipe like I play in Braveheart, the sound is from an Irish uilleann bagpipe instead. The Scottish pipe has a harsher sound, the director didn't like it lol

[–] COF 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

WooHoo, more pipes, I love it! I can even hear the dragon roaring part way through it. Great job.

[–] NoTrueScotsman 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Haha, thanks!

[–] grandmacaesar 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

Hi all, I hope everyone had an awesome week. I have chicken breasts stuffed with shrooms, onions, and cheese comin' off the grill in a few minutes.

This is somethin' I submitted for a kid's clothing commercial a few years ago. It didn't get picked up.

Strictly for commercial.

Kindertogs

[–] sguevar 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Reminds me of WAB - I believe that was the name of the artist, that did the all the music instruments in his performances. I think he was french... can't remember, I recall hearing his music when I was in 10th grade with a french-german school peer.

Since then I have tried to find his tunes but unable to... maybe he fade away in the net.

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

for a kid's clothing commercial

Makes me almost miss studio work.

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

That was something entirely different. Sounds like the doo sound on a casio keyboard

[–] COF 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Lol, that would be perfect for that. Shiny, happy kids. That certainly has ear-worm potential. Good job.

This week, you're in for a treat. This song is overlooked and nobody ever really seems to pay the slightest bit of attention to how complex the song is musically. Everyone knows the song, but few of you will have ever heard it without the vocals. It's rich, deep, complex, and fun. It was also Fogerty's comeback in the 80s, on his Centerfield album. From a guitarist standpoint, it might be his greatest composition.

Without further ado:
John Fogerty - The Old Man Down The Road (B #2 & B; TB P #1)

It has such a lovely, rich texture - with fine tiny bits of timing filling in each moment with an auditory treat as the song winds from beginning to end. And, yet, it's so often overlooked. To many folks, it's "Just another CCR" song, but it's nothing of the sort.

The song also has some interesting history with regards to a lawsuit and setting precedent regarding legal fees for losing plaintiffs without them needing to show frivolty. So, it's a story in and of itself surrounding the song.

Either way, it's deceptively complex and a wonderful piece of music. And, of course, this is my wife - in whom I am well pleased! Even her parts are surprisingly technical. I doubt I'll be here all that late tonight, but I'll be here for a while.

Rock on, goats! Rock on!

[–] sguevar 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

I was listening to this song a few weeks back with my wife and dancing rock'n'roll for her... she cracked so much

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Sounds great! Is your code there saying that your wife played both guitar parts and you played percussion? Is that right? Damn girl!

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

No, there's only 1 guitar part. There's 1 bass part. One drum part.

The band only has four members and the singer doesn't play anything.

[–] nigger_plz 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

That's a real good track you all made there. Real tasty touch on that guitar. Swamp rock that Creedence did so well. Like Run Through the Jungle, Suzy Q, Born on the Bayou.

I love that album. Got it when it came out. Remember Fogerty winning some award for that record and in his speech he badmouthed the owner of Fantasy records because that fuck owned CCR's songs and Fogerty couldn't perform them. Sal Zaentz. Yes one of Voat's favorite type people.

Rock and Roll Girls is on that record. It was one of 3 hit singles from that album. Ain't that something? You know a Rock and Roll girl.

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

It's a very underrated song, or at least overlooked.

And, Fantasy records sued him for the song, claiming it was a ripoff of one of CCRs earlier works. Fogerty brought the guitar into court, showed the differences, and won. He was then able to sue the record company for legal fees. That's where things got interesting, because he wasn't required to show that it was frivolous. Previously, that was one of the conditions to sue for attorney fees. So, that set a new precedent in the law.

Something like that. My memory is a bit fuzzy.

Either way, it's a lovely song. It's such a rich and deep melody.

[–] cynicaloldfart [S] 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

That is really textured and layered. Of course you 2 did it wonderfully.

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Thanks!

And, thanks. Glad ya liked it. It's such an overlooked song. It's a bit of a shame, really.

I do an acoustic rendition that I really like, where I more or less cover both guitar parts at the same time, inasmuch as is physically possible. I should record it for you sometime.

The wife is watching TV and keeping an eye on the thread. Alas, you've seen the album art for this one. It's just a crop of a pic you already have. I added the pics this week and was particularly lazy.

Hey I’m at work but popped in to say hello, no tunes but thinking of y’all fondly!

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

I doubt I'll be here late, so hello!

[–] Deshy 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I did play your song to a 7month yr old and he was rocking out to it, bouncing around and started shout singing some kick butt lyrics that I couldn’t understand. Just got home, hope you guys had a good evening! :)

[–] cynicaloldfart [S] 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

You're always so busy, what a woman. Glad you could stop by.

[–] Deshy 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Aw COF, it’s been busy, this is just how it’s rolling right now... God willing an improvement will come. Just got home, probably going to pass out soon.

[–] sguevar 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Ok guys so I know I am late, got some free time to* be able to share this.

This is a little gift to me towards you - comes in place given the current state of affairs in the US - it isn't* the full song but it is the first few minutes, not perfect either but well lack of practice - don't get offended nor think I am culturally appropriating your song:

This next one is a song in french - cover as well - that I dedicated to my wife:

And finally this one is a poem I created for you guys inspired on the irish bagpipes hope you guys like it:

Sorry for the delay - now going back to work

@cynicaloldfart, @crazy_eyes, @TheBuddhasBong, @NoTrueScotsman, @Deshy, @heygeorge

I listened to the national anthem. Rock on!

[–] sguevar 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Glad you liked it!

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

[–] nigger_plz 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Good tune. Chris got some good knowledge to those folk songs. Like it.

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Thanks, he knows a lot of those oldies

[–] sguevar 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Got confused by the beginning but liked the tune a lot. Loved the guitar sounds like a traditional guitar not an electrical, I may be wrong but good sound.

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Thank you!

[–] cynicaloldfart [S] 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

There ya are, how's things going?

[–] crazy_eyes 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Hello. I was pretty preoccupied last night

[–] sguevar 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Hello guys don't have any tunes to offer, just came by to say hello! God bless! And hope you are all doing alright!

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

o/

[–] heygeorge 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Mine started working again.

[–] heygeorge 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Hey squevar! Great to see you here!

[–] sguevar 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Hey man! Likewise being vigilant with all the shit that is going on in the US. Highly concerning.

[–] Deshy 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Nice to see you!

[–] sguevar 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Appreciated! Likewise! A bit concerned with all that is going on but hanging in there.

[–] cynicaloldfart [S] 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Been a while since we've seen you, glad you dropped by. Miss your awesome singing, please consider doing some in the future.

[–] sguevar 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Sure will try, since now working from home, but I got uni also for CCNA so currently got a lot on my plate. Just decided to comeback in the past few days because of what is going on in the US.

And this place is like a the best safe haven I have for valid information.

But I will do my best to record something in my free time ahead of next Friday and hit you up with a few songs.

[–] cynicaloldfart [S] 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Whew, what a week! Between the current events and the log-in problems and down times, it'll be nice to just chill a little with some great music. Hopefuly we'll stay up so we can groove for a while.

So who wants to play us a tune?

[–] TheBuddhasBong 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Interesting...

There's already a downvote. I dare say that the mentally handicapped unskilled folks are restless tonight. If they don't have anything to contribute, then they feel nobody should be contributing.

I, for one, enjoy their petty jealousy and impotent rage! Their tears are delicious!
