5 strings is too many for most bassists!

Seriously, there's some good bassists out there. I've known a few. On the other hand, you can usually get someone up to speed (to be passable) pretty quickly. So, it's not too hard to get someone who will do. I can play a bass with some alacrity but I've never taken a single formal lesson. Fortunately, I've got tab!

I've amassed a bit of bass gear. I'm a sucker for someone's used equipment. I swear to fucking god, people stop here instead of going to a pawn shop to sell their used shit. The good news is that I have enough gear for a good jam session. As we've mentioned before, my only saving grace is I dislike clutter. I've got way too much stuff, but it's organized!

Tomorrow, I'm going down to drop a guitar off for cleaning and truss rod adjustment. I'm so not doing that myself. If I behave myself - I won't come back with anything new. Unfortunately, I have to go back and pick it up next week - which means I'll be in his shop twice. He mentioned a 1953 00-18 (Martin) but didn't give me a price, thankfully. I'll probably play it and put it back in its case. Hopefully...

Any good guitarist worth their weight plays bass. I have a couple strewn about. Most of the time I use keyboard bass or drum machine bass. I know. I know.

You don't do your own?? Its easy peasy. You're either going to pull it back too far or you will go the other way and your action will be high as hell. You just find that sweet spot unless you have to make other adjustments like the bridge or trem. My wife gives me the look any time I stop at a music store. lol When I was at the beach this past summer I almost walked out with a ESP ST1 that some guy had just traded in. They were out of their mind on the price, though, but I was still tempted

I can do my own but this is a handcrafted flamenco guitar and he has insurance! Also, he has to fix it - if he breaks something. I have and will, but I'd much rather send it out.

Yes, I know my shame. Since retiring, I even send them out for cleanings and inspections. Yes, yes I do know my shame...

Edit: Also, the missus has no money of her own and has no say in how I spend mine. The only money that lazy bear has is what I give her. She has no job. No, she does not! Lazy bears! So, I am the only one to chastise my spending.
