Ah, ok, I haven't really had any experience with those guitars - I've seen them on there before but the whole dodgy aliexpress vibe put me off a bit :P. That's quite interesting.

Aliexpress uses an escrow service, the sellers don't get paid until you sign off on the product.
I have had a few "Chibsons" I don't own any of them anymore, not because they weren't good guitars but because I moved countries or traded them. The videos on YouTube are pretty correct, I really like PixxyLixx's videos.
The "burst" Les Pauls they sell do not have a maple cap, it's a paper thin veneer, I had "Greeny" burst copy and found this out when I swapped the pickups out to do the Peter Green mod. I installed a Vari-Tone control on it (Like you see on B.B. King's 335) and rewired it with vintage wiring.
I bought a white Les Paul custom (really, really white!) and I liked it better, again I swapped out the wiring and pickups.
When they come from the factory in China they almost always need a proper setup, but quality wise they are right up there with Epiphone... the original pickups in both of mine had Epiphone sickers on them. I ended up giving the custom to a singer songwriter friend of mine in London, she loves it a lot and wouldn't part with it, she's had it like 6 or 7 years now.
I have recently been considering buying another "Chibson" Les Paul custom as I have a lot of spare parts hanging around I could use to upgrade and mod it with... I guess that's the real cool thing about the chibsons, you mod the crap out of them worry free because at the end of the day you're messing with a $200 guitar, not a $3000 to $4000 guitar.

Oh wow, thanks for explaining this!
I might look in getting one at some stage, because when you think about it you could probably buy the guitar and a real nice set of pickups for less that you would pay for the epi.
It's awesome to actually hear about them from an actual person that's bought and enjoyed them, rather than a generic review or 5 star rating on ali.
