I had an Epi 335 Pro a couple years ago that I enjoyed but had some of the "standard" Epiphone problems, like the fretboard turning my fingers black, rough frets and not staying in tune all that well. The pickups were actually pretty great, and the single coil option was awesome, especially because you can set one single and leave the other HB and combine them to get some really cool sounds.
That was some time ago, and I wasn't able to play it in-store and just blindly ordered one, so I'd definitely recommend trying one out in person if you can, they could have made some improvements and with those features and that price, it would absolutely be worth it if you find yourself liking it.

I play an LP100 at the moment, nothing too great, but I've found that it seems to be pretty reliable, as far as epiphones go. I love the idea of the coil switching too, I play jazz and blues, so this seems like a pretty good guitar to cover all the bases fairly well.
I'll definitely go in to a Rockshop and try one out, you've made me feel a bit more confident about getting this baby!

Oh man it was perfect for blues, I think you're gonna love it. What amp you playing through?

I am not super into the 339 body style, I think it's cool, but there are a load more guitars I would buy before it. In general, I would buy a "Chibson" knock off on Aliexpress before I'd buy a modern Epiphone, they're cheaper and have the same quality.

Ah, ok, I haven't really had any experience with those guitars - I've seen them on there before but the whole dodgy aliexpress vibe put me off a bit :P. That's quite interesting.

Aliexpress uses an escrow service, the sellers don't get paid until you sign off on the product.
I have had a few "Chibsons" I don't own any of them anymore, not because they weren't good guitars but because I moved countries or traded them. The videos on YouTube are pretty correct, I really like PixxyLixx's videos.
The "burst" Les Pauls they sell do not have a maple cap, it's a paper thin veneer, I had "Greeny" burst copy and found this out when I swapped the pickups out to do the Peter Green mod. I installed a Vari-Tone control on it (Like you see on B.B. King's 335) and rewired it with vintage wiring.
I bought a white Les Paul custom (really, really white!) and I liked it better, again I swapped out the wiring and pickups.
When they come from the factory in China they almost always need a proper setup, but quality wise they are right up there with Epiphone... the original pickups in both of mine had Epiphone sickers on them. I ended up giving the custom to a singer songwriter friend of mine in London, she loves it a lot and wouldn't part with it, she's had it like 6 or 7 years now.
I have recently been considering buying another "Chibson" Les Paul custom as I have a lot of spare parts hanging around I could use to upgrade and mod it with... I guess that's the real cool thing about the chibsons, you mod the crap out of them worry free because at the end of the day you're messing with a $200 guitar, not a $3000 to $4000 guitar.

Get a used ibanez artcore 100 series you can find them used for 400-500 and they play much better.

I don't have a Pro, just a regular ES-339.
I've been impressed with it. Feels good to hold and play in your hand, although I find the fretboard a bit rough and the frets themselves needed to be filed down as well. Except for my third string it stays in tune exceptionally well, and the pickups sound great! I love how you can coil tap, it really helps with getting the versatility of your sound and is generally just fun to play around with. Aesthetics wise, mine is cherry red and the finish on it is gorgeous. All in all, I think you would like it!
That being said, I did try a 339 Pro in lieu of a 339 (store only had the one) before I ordered it and ultimately found the 339 to be much better than that Pro I tried.
