Recall this announcement. I also made a post about the then-upcoming changes here almost a month ago. Well, the changes have come. I have tried making my monthly donation to Voat via my credit card today, and it failed. Voat's primary credit processor has ended its relationship with Voat. Just like PayPal did. Just like Coinbase did. The world does not want freedom to survive, certainly not the free exchange of ideas, and so here we are.
We must learn, as a community, to use cryptocurrency to support Voat. I hope that Putt opens wallets for more than just BTC, but Litecoin and others that are growing.
If you are willing to try to learn about cryptocurrency, I suggest looking into it. Here is a link to the page for getting started with Bitcoin. I was able to follow the steps to the point where I opened my own wallet, set my self up with a base from which I can buy bitcoin, and am now able to send and receive. I just now send ten dollars' worth to Voat (in CAD terms, unfortunately).
Bitcoin is not purely anonymous, though depending on how many steps and how hard you want to work to remain anonymous, more can be done to hide your identity. I have heard that Litecoin's M.O. is anonymity, so if that is a major concern for you you may want to pursue that. I have set up a VPN for myself to secure my transactions, and with it I am satisfied. A VPN is advisable, but chances are if you were willing to use your own credit card, you will have no issue using bitcoin to support Voat.
If you have questions about getting into cryptocurrency, there are many communities on Voat that can help you (/v/bitcoin, /v/cryptocurrency, /v/litecoin, to name a few). If you post questions here I will try to check back often enough to answer if I can.
