Look @typo @elnino - mods consulting the users on how they want sub rules worded and enforced.

Don't know. Are you having problems with what's submitted?

None that sticks out like a sore thumb to me, but I'm new to the janitorial-modding clean-up team, so maybe @Reacher might like to weigh-in with what he's seen.

Ultimately, this system sub belongs to you/us/the users of Voat and feedback matters for how the sub should be overseen. Comments at anytime are always going to be welcome in my book, and probably Reacher's too, but having an overall discussion now and again is a cool deal.

What is the "no album" rule trying to prevent? If a user wants to share a set of gifs wouldn't this be the approprite sub? I am guessing that there is a reason, but I figured I'd ask.

Good question; we might have to go all the way back to ask the dude who created the subverse; https://web.archive.org/web/20150226055448/https://voat.co/v/gifs/

Wayback Machine's earliest capture, 2015-02-26:

GIFs

You know, moving images. Graphics Interchange Format.

Rules

  1. All content submitted must be .GIF files or GYFCAT files.
  2. Submit direct image links only (i.e. no albums).

It seems that this has always been a Rule, but now just a Guideline. Maybe it had to do with server load?

I rather like that the submissions are individual but I wouldn't delete an album of images if they came along.

Thank you for reaching out to users first. Just please never adopt any rules nor guidelines governing actual content of the gif beyond suggesting users to use the [NSFW] tag with good judgement.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like we really only need ONE real Rule here, that being: the submission must be a GIF, with everything else being Guidelines. In other words, mods are cool to delete any post that isn't a GIF, but any post not following a listed Guideline is subject to the up/downvotes of the users.
