"keep right except to pass". Could've been any type of emergency, it's not up to you to decide how fast people 'should' be going. For all you know that dudes pregnant wife is going into labor in the passenger seat, rewatch the video with that scenario in mind.

Pregnant wife could've been in passenger seat of car in front...if you want to get all hypothetical!

"Could have been". Log off for a bit troll. It is this kind of stuff that is so naive.

The tatted up guy with a Hoodie was showing his 9mil to protect that old lady right?

If you drive a car that doesn't turn the headlamps and everything on automatically, then usually just turning on the lights will make the brake lights light up enough to trick a tailgater while keeping you from getting touched.

[–] green_man 2 points 10 points (+12|-2) ago

You can also lightly touch the breaks with your left foot just enough to trigger the break lights while keeping your right foot on the accelerator.

I am going to try this!

My car has rear fog lights that I can activate at the press of a button. Same idea, and works great toback off dem.pesky angry-horny teenage tailgaters!

I use the Steven Wright method. Hooked my brake lights to the accelerator. He's in the ditch and Boom, I'm gone!

[–] GumbyTM 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Yeah, and fuck that innocent guy who almost got smashed just for getting on the highway next to some asshole.

How about you just move the fuck over without endangering other motorists because you're so alpha it's your job to be a traffic vigilante.

One driver is guilty of improper lane discipline and reckless driving, the other is guilty of tailgating/careless driving and you idiots think the menace is the hero.

[–] Vloorshad 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

It's worse than that. The very end of the gif shows the tailgater skidding towards oncoming traffic. I only hope something kept him from fully going into oncoming traffic. Otherwise the breakchecker just caused a nasty accident.

[–] YoHomie 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

I was thinking the same thing; I saw nothing wrong with the brake check. Watched it several times, nope, break check was warranted.

[–] 4567096? 2 points 1 points (+3|-2) ago

It was a stupid move, but far less than the idiot tailgater. Neither is justified.

I just hope he tapped brakes to let off cruise control or something and not to actually brake check.

[–] odinist 1 points 53 points (+54|-1) ago

I thought that's why you brake check... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–] arrggg 4 points 26 points (+30|-4) ago

That was deserved and worked perfectly. Excellent teachable moment, now everyone that sees this understands why you don't tailgate.

[–] ChessboardAbs 0 points 6 points (+6|-0) ago

Exactly. I can see where people would argue they caused the crash, but it was either that or they have to legitimately stop later and it either happens then or they get rear ended with catastrophic results.

Fuck yes. It's not a brake check unless it's hard enough to squeal tires or engage the ABS and lock the seatbelts.

[–] njdss4 1 points 45 points (+46|-1) ago

What I've done in the past when being tailgated is to just slowly take my foot off the gas and gradually slow down. It makes them rage so hard and you've barely done anything, and it's nowhere near as dangerous as brake-checking. Had a bitch who was on her phone and tailgating me and I watched her rage in my rearview mirror as I slowed down. It was so satisfying.

[–] AnTi90d 1 points 14 points (+15|-1) ago

That is 100% what I do. I'd rather make someone rage and pop a blood vessel than risk having my car rear ended. Yeah, it'd be their fault.. but waiting around for the cops to show up and write an accident report and then having to deal with insurance for 2+ weeks just isn't fun.

[–] Iforgotmy_other_acct 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Don't have to touch the brake. Just turn the headlights on briefly. That will turn the tail lights on, and will usually trick a tailgater.

[–] Dark_Shroud 4 points 9 points (+13|-4) ago

Same here, I usually drive the limit and often up to 5 over. If you're tailgating me then I'll suddenly start slowing down.

Entitled assholes.

What if my wife is having a baby? Or I accidentally chopped off 3 of my fingers on my tabletop saw?

Your state's motor vehicle operation laws will tell you that the right lane is for cruising/normal speed and the left for passing(and typically 5-10 MPH over the speed limit is allowed for safe passing.) So sorry If you use cruise control in the left lane you are the entitled asshole according to the law. If you are going with the flow of traffic get in the right lane.

If you want to pass the person in front of you speed up get around him and get back in the right lane. Stop being a cruise controlling road hog who is too pussy to just merge. Cruise controlling 5 MPH over the speed limit in the left lane still makes you an asshole if someone is in a emergency situation.

People have emergencies and the roads are used for them. Get the fuck out of the way is someone is going 90 mph. Don't endanger anyone's life just because you assume its some dumb kid with sunglasses and a tanktop. Plus wouldn't you rather not be driving close to erratic drivers? You know.... for your own safety?

PSAccident prone drivers pay higher insurance rates and that includes drivers who drive dangerously slow/entitled in the left lane.

Highway traffic to your left should always be overtaking you, to your right should be overtaken by you.

1
51

[–] mite 1 points 51 points (+52|-1) ago

which is true, except when superseded by on-ramps. Temporarily shifting left to allow for on-ramp merging is recommended to maintain overall highway safety and efficiency.

And you legally have to attempt to let someone on in certain states.

As often as people don't follow this (for whatever dumb reasons), it doesn't justify unsafe following distances or road rage

The car in front was actually overtaking but should've moved right if they were in that lane for a while. Can't tell from the video.

Little Chute, actually. One of Appleton's satellites. I'd say Appleton really starts after you go past 441 (next exit/entrance down)

I hit my wiper fluid every few seconds until they get the message. Then break check if they're that dense.

This is what I do as well. I try to avoid hitting them with a check because you never know how intoxicated someone is behind the wheel. Easier to put on wipers and reduce speed than it is to hit your breaks and swerve.

Brake. You "break" your neck if you are rear ended from a "brake" check.

The past tense of brake is braked, the past tense of break is broke. The more you know...
