It's interesting looking at Ronald D. Moore as an auteur of science fiction, since he did both Deep Space Nine and BSG. In both these stories, he explores the idea of a villain which can look just like the protagonists. BSG had the Cylons, and DS9 had the shapeshifting Founders.

BSG started out so great its first couple of seasons. It's unfortunate by Season 4 it seemed they were just making things up as they went along.
