Did you know that the wood used to build the Titanic came from West Virginia? TIL

Only once in most cases.

A shitty submarine can still make a decent boat.

A shitty boat always makes an excellent submarine.

Submarines are boats, mate. Old historical naming convention we still use.

[–] captainstrange 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Submarines are boats, but not all boats are submarines.

not all boats are submarines

All boats have the possibility of being submarines, with only a simple modification to the hull.

Are you a good pirate? Or a bad pirate, matey?

Don't make fun of me, I have Australian friends and their retarded lingo rubs off. I've let a "cunt" or two slip out in entirely inappropriate situations in America.

Looks like Ocean Station Bravo in the north Atlantic. No fun in winter.

That's called green water (when a big wave spills over the bow of the vessel), and is why this vessel has the bulwark structure, or green seas protection barrier, you can see pointing upwards and outwards around the bow.

It's better than the Marines, at least you get to stay on the boat.

Coast Guard seems pretty sweet. Good bases, good food, get to stay stateside.

Not too many people realize that during times of war, the USCG falls under the Department of the Navy.

~8,000 served in Vietnam with 59 wounded and 7 kia.

I've been through seas like that. South of Australia. It was rocking and rolling the whole day, and then it changed...it rolled up, and then it went down and down and down to the point that my brain said get your uniform and boots on and then bam! lol General Quarters was sounded to secure the weather decks (no one outside) and we had to slow way down.
