Don’t watch this video it’s fucking boring. They throw balls off a cliff. They spin them so they curve in the air. It’s like baseball except less entertaining to watch.

Less entertaining than baseball? That's impossible.

Don't lie. You were probably picturing a cat being put inside of the exercise ball first.

I think we only saw the Magnus Effect for a short period of time there. The ball appears to hit the ground near the creek bed and then just roll along before coming to a stop and rolling back a little. It almost seems fake as the ball did not bounce around on the rocky terrain and smoothly transitions from falling to rolling.

No, the gif ends before it ever hits the ground.

Is the Magnus Effect the same force that pushes falling objects away from a curved surface like a dam wall?

force that pushes falling objects away from a curved surface like a dam wall?

I cannot find any info on this (probably because I can't find the right search terms) and I've never heard of it, do you know any more about it?

Looks like I got my articles mixed up. There's one specific to the Hoover Dam about how it can "defy gravity".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3710663/Hoover-Dam-updraft-strong-makes-water-defy-gravity.html

I also found another video where someone drops a ball from the top of a dam in Australia, one without spin, the other with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM9vnEWmA1c

I wonder what would happen if you dropped a ball off the Hoover Dam...

From the top of the page of searching Magnus effect

the force exerted on a rapidly spinning cylinder or sphere moving through air or another fluid in a direction at an angle to the axis of spin. This force is responsible for the swerving of balls when hit or thrown with spin.

Someone needs to volunteer to do a spinning cannonball dive off the damn relying on this effect.

(I'd do it myself but I am much too important.)
