Some people drive like those people walk, looking behind them as they veer off in a different lane.

Reminds me of once I was biking on a shared path (it was marked) 9ft wide no divider. There was some event in my town and there were a lot of people walking around so I was using my bell like every five seconds because morons are walking and standing all over the place, usually that path is nearly empty so there is no need for the bell.

Anyway there was a family walking 4 wide on the left hand side and a young girl like 7 years old on the far right making for a 4 ft gap, as I said I was using my bell at regular intervals, somehow this father had his head in the clouds and was completely oblivious that there was a bike getting closer and closer when I am 15 ft away I use my bell once more just in case... It had the opposite reaction the father reaches out across the path and drags his daughter right in front of me forcing me to emergency brake nearly tilting me off my bike.

Then he has the gall to scold me for nearly hitting his daughter, I just told him to pay attention and went off.

This - no bell, but I'll give folks a "heads-up, on your left", etc when I am coming down the path. People are oblivious. Like they are in the only people in the world that would possibly be using the path for anything.

I had this family (on bikes) approaching me from the opposite direction. Dad, Mom, couple kids. So I am on the right, they are on the left. Except for their dumbass son. He was staring me down... I kept waiting for him to move over to his side. He never did.

Eventually I had to lock up the brakes (luckily I expected some dumbassery) and had slowed down. I come to a screeching halt (I was traveling a lot faster) and the kid had stopped as well. We're stopped for just a second, tire to tire. The Father looks down at his dumbass kid.. "Jeremy, what the Hell are you doing? Get over".

People do need to learn how to fucking walk and pay attention to their surroundings. Put the god damned phones away too while we're at it.

[–] The_Red_Kraken 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

To be fair, it is possible to be looking at your phone and pay attention while walking.

[–] Apathy 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

And it's also possible to walk/drive without being a jackass, but how many people are capable of that?

[–] 1moar 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

looking at your phone pay attention while walking

While I have been impressed by the human ability to multi-task and whatnot, where I come from...you get to pick 1. If you're lucky.

[–] BlueDrache 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

Yes and no. You won't be doing either very well, IMO. Pay attention to your surroundings ... otherwise, you get your face beat.

Tell these people that. https://youtu.be/zI0_fwrEYDI.

Any time I have to walk in a crowd I always try my hardest to pay attention to my surroundings, never know when a truck of peace might come down the sidewalk, oh and I never use my phone well fucking walking.

Everyone in this video is an asshole. It's a bike lane and people should not be standing in it or walking through it. On the other hand it's an obvious tourist spot and most of the people have no clue. The bike rider did have a right to shove someone that he might collide with, but he also could have chosen not to ride his bike as quickly as possible in a place where he knew there would be clueless people milling about.

[–] Bmn003 2 points 18 points (+20|-2) ago

Yeah I'm thinking this is one of those cyclists that cops an attitude and decides that every piece of concrete with a bike symbol on it is owned by him, personally, and everyone else on it is some kind of squatter. It's riders like this guy that cause all the "share the road" ads aimed at motorists to fail spectacularly.

[–] jerrykantrell 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

The people who ride their bikes on Brooklyn Bridge are notoriously grouchy! They get pissed off at the thousands of tourists, many from other countries, who do not understand American Signage who wander on to the bike lane. "Damn Kids, Get off my lane!"

[–] Cat-hax 1 points 0 points (+1|-1) ago

I'll start sharing the road with them when they do the same, so many times have I almost ran a guy on a bike over because they just sneak up on you're right.

[–] Broc_Lia 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

He honestly didn't look like he was moving that quickly. Quicker than the pedestrians, sure, but not fast for a bike.

[–] Wahaha 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

That wasn't as quick as possible. Besides, what's the point of bringing a bike if you're not going faster than without a bike?

[–] voatHatesTheFirst 2 points 2 points (+4|-2) ago  (edited ago)

most of the people have no clue

There are big ass clues painted on the roadway.

I don't want to excuse the rider, but fuck that cunt. She deserved it.

[–] lokfort 1 points 17 points (+18|-1) ago

Move bitch get out the way!

[–] Cheesebooger 3 points 10 points (+13|-3) ago

Had he stuck that nigra hand in my face I would've jerked his ass off that bike and we would've had a little chat. Bu then again, I wouldn't be walking in a bike lane.

[–] Itsdone63 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

It is his damn lane.

[–] gattaca 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

No, he stole that too

[–] bonebroke 1 points 1 points (+2|-1) ago

Probably not his bike tho.

[–] Vhaine 0 points 9 points (+9|-0) ago

The bicycle of peace.

[–] PsyOp 4 points 8 points (+12|-4) ago

Goddamn nigger on a bicycle!

[–] Bill_Murrays_Sandals [S] 1 points 8 points (+9|-1) ago
