I think you need to accelerate to 'pull' the trailer straight and stop the wobble, then carefully brake.

Wasn't there a Mythbusters or something on this subject?

Although, I guess the main point is that they should not have been going so fast in the first place to lose control of the trailer.

You only accelerate if you have a small trailer without trailer brakes. This large trailer is required to have brakes. Lift the pedal and manually apply only the trailer brakes.

How are the trailer brakes applied? Is there an electronic button or something?

I think remembering they are pulling a trailer so they don't ram into the truck they are passing, would have been the most helpful in that situation.

Maybe the wind blast from the semi started the trailer fishtailing.

That's actually a good idea. If possible, accelerating to pull it straight is the easiest thing to do if you're not experienced to control it otherwise.
