What is the "no album" rule trying to prevent? If a user wants to share a set of gifs wouldn't this be the approprite sub? I am guessing that there is a reason, but I figured I'd ask.

Good question; we might have to go all the way back to ask the dude who created the subverse;

Wayback Machine's earliest capture, 2015-02-26:

You know, moving images. Graphics Interchange Format.

  1. All content submitted must be .GIF files or GYFCAT files.
  2. Submit direct image links only (i.e. no albums).

It seems that this has always been a Rule, but now just a Guideline. Maybe it had to do with server load?

I rather like that the submissions are individual but I wouldn't delete an album of images if they came along.
