"The Microsoft E3 show was pretty intense this year, with the announcement that Double Fine was acquired by the tech giant, as well as reveals for the new Blair Witch game which totally went and stole the show. However Microsoft sort of snuck an announcement under the radar regarding their newest Xbox Game Studios developments. In a blog post mostly regarding Double Fine that was posted on June 9th, the company revealed that an entirely new studio had been formed to develop future Age of Empires games.
As well as briefly talking about the new studio, Microsoft wanted to make it clear that they were committed to focusing on future Age of Empires development “to ensure that its legacy on PC continues in service of the passionate community of faithful fans.”. The new studio is being headed up by Shannon Loftis, who was the general manager for Microsoft’s global publishing division before heading up the studio."
