I'm not sure I'm qualified enough to answer that because I didn't play the game that much and have no idea what running an actual farm entails. You do have to earn in game money and you can manage that however you like, investing in whatever machinery you like.

I would play with my brother (he loves this game) and a friend, and we'd end up running the machines all at once which was a fun way to divide up the work. I usually had the combine harvester, my brother would till the land, and my friend would plant. Every so often one of them would hop off of their rig, get the tractor and wagon and pull up next to me; I'd deploy the boom on my harvester and fill up the wagon, and that way I wouldn't have to stop. If I remember right there was even a refueling truck that would refuel my rig so I wouldn't have to stop for that either. It took a bit of coordination between drivers, but that co-op effect is what I enjoyed the most. I ended up getting bored of the game just because driving the machines over and over just wasn't engaging enough for me.
