Wait 5 years after release dates to purchase any and all video games. They'll finally release the finished product for a reasonable price.

It sucks for the first 5 years... but then its totally worth it. Did the same thing with movies first.

No I'm not waiting 5 years for Fallout 4, but I am waiting 5 years for GTA V

I second this. I have a really time finding games I can get into but I'm almost certain I've put more time into GTAO in the last two years alone than any other game in my gaming life. It's insane that so much content is packed into this game and you can get it all for $60 along with all the DLC entirely for free without any gimmicks. It's a crime other '8 hours worth of content' games can sell for the same price as GTA.

If there's one game that deserves full price it's GTAV hands down. Online racing, car modification, skydiving, golf, tennis, darts, co-op missions, vs. missions, deathmatches, jet dog fights, tank battles, mountain climbing, bmxing, dirtbiking, character customization, singleplayer quality heists, survival, director's mode, even a content creator where you can make your own races, deathmatches ect. it's absolutely insane what they've pulled off, all driven in a game engine with some of the most realistic on-the-spot animations and ingame sunsets I've ever seen.

I got a temporary ban for getting shot by a money gun. 2/10 would not recommend.

Five years is probably too long, but waiting a year or two is a pretty good policy for just about every game. Get the "Game of the Year Edition" or some shit like that, with all the DLC, for $15 or whatever.

They make games faster than I play 'em anyway, it's not like I'm missing out on anything. I've just started playing Bioshock Infinite. It's alright.

I picked up gtav on a reasonable Steam sale, but I agree with your main point, don't pay full price.. They will accept your submission and crank up prices even more on the next dlc.

I wonder if it will be worse or better on pc in relating to gta 4. Online for PC was garbage.

I'd be reluctant to blame Dice for much that goes on in the company. We all know EA digs their fingers in where they can.

Edit: I can't english

You are misjudging the ammount of control DICE have over the content they create. Its EA that decide the price and how is going to be distributed. DICE just make the content and are paid for it.

So, what, then, they stand up to EA and EA cans the project? Then people get upset with DICE for cockteasing us with a new Battlefront game? No matter how DICE handles this, people are going to be pissed with them.

Didn't we as a collective decide to stop purchasing EA games? They basically fuck us every time, we say we won't buy (for various reason) and then they hype and we buy.

FUCKING STOP IT GUYS. Just stop buying EA games. Find alternatives. instead of FIFA grab PES (which is apparently even better), instead of SIM CITY grab Cities: Skylines... Instead of Battlefront reboot, go play either of the first two, or some other non-EA shooter. There's probably a Garys Mod version of battlefront or something.

It's frustrating to see people look forward to EA games, see that EA is screwing them like they do every year, refuse to buy the game, and then start the process all over again. Like what the fuck did you expect? It's the same flavorless AAA gruel every year. Even if it was free I wouldn't even waste my time downloading it.

In the immortal words of Ed Snowden, the greatest hero of our time, "The fact that you're posting on a gaming forum makes me cry... You're a filthy little ragamuffin who lacks any semblance of taste."

I wish people would hold their ground on this shit. I've been boycotting EA since they forced NFL2K out of the market. Funny how NFL2K5 is arguably still fundamentally better than Madden.

Hard agree on the loss of the NFL2K series. I remember editing mp3s I would load onto my Xbox to create the music clips for big plays, touchdowns, sacks, etc. It was so good and so ahead of it's time. I boycott EA whenever the opportunity presents itself, but as a diehard Star Wars guy and RPG fan, I can't stay away from the likes of SWTOR, and am seriously pissed off Battlefront is also being published by those wads. I'll need to find a great sale on PC to justify my entry into the game because $120 for the whole experience is just fucked.

If battlefront is going to be anything like battlefield, then the DLC, for people that do not with to purchase it, will not make much difference; There will always be people that play the "base" game, regardless of what DLC is released. Or, do you not remember metro?

EA is doing what EA does best. They're removing past features, introducing micro-transactions, and requesting people to pay full price for one half of the game, and then full price for the other half.

What really pissed me off was going from Xbox 360 to Xbox One with Battlefield 4, and my map packs didn't transfer over. I will not buy again, and I probably won't buy anything outside of the game itself after that bs.

There's about to be a lot of fucking sadness in my household. I want to know how to break the news gently.

This is part of the problem. Don't be so gentle. It's OK to hurt people's feelings a little bit. People have to learn to adapt. If you worry how to communicate something so simple and basic as a desire to wait for a game, you're basically in deep shit. You should be able to speak freely, especially if you're the parent. Don't coddle your kids. You don't have to be mean to them and like, rub the bad news in, or something, or laugh at their misery. That's excessive. But you can just tell them that you think the game is a rip off, and we live in a world where we have to balance what we want and what we can afford.

If you want to raise a capitalist/consumerist family, you can also tell your kids if they want the games, get to work and start saving money. In other words: if you want the product, become a whore who works for it, so that you can trade your freedom and personal potential for consumables. It'll destroy your kids' souls, but at least this is fair from a capitalist perspective. If your kids want to be wage slaves and whores, they have a right to be. But I would advise against suggesting to your kids something like that. I would frame it as, "you can't have it right away, wait for it, and now deal with it."

I don't have kids. My poor boyfriend and roommate are going to be pretty disappointed to know they're going to have to pay and extra $60 (plus maybe more) for content that aught to be in the game already, though.

This DLC shit is ridiculous; it is like buying a book, but you have to pay extra for the final chapters if you want to find out how it ends. This really isn't fair, they are intentionally selling what is an unfinished product and charging you extra if you want the product completed after the initial purchase.

I dunno man, dice are pretty awesome. I run a weekly D&D game, and it'd be pretty lame were it not for dice.
