Ugh, I'm getting flashbacks of the Geforce FX line back in 2003. NVidia got thoroughly pantsed by ATI back then, and they started doing all sorts of screwy driver shenanigans to try to look better. It got so bad it motivated HardOCP to only do actual gameplay comparisons for their video card reviews instead of benchmark data.

NVIDIA seriously needs to be taken down a peg on two, maybe they'll start behaving properly then.

I don't know about caught cheating. The 290x performing at titan x levels is interesting, but this is again, only 1 game benchmark. We need more games to support dx 12. maybe this new line greenland and big pascal will support this better, time will only tell. It really depends on how long it takes developers to code to dx 12.

How do you call a hardware manufacturer that claims to support certain features but actually doesn't? And it's not even the first time they do this (they pulled the same shit with the GTX 600 series and DX11.1).

i thought there was a ground breaking new OpenGL project that was cross platform and rendered DX useless

You're probably talking about Vulkan. DX12 is Microsoft's response to Vulkan, to try and stay relevant.
