Dude, think of all the scientists on the R&D team that need to be paid for implementing Solitaire in the Windows 10 os. Not to mention the designers the advertisers have to hire to create the ads for the people who don't/won't pay. Microsoft has been bleeding money into the Solitaire black hole for YEARS. As a shareholder it's about time the higher ups did something about it. /s

That's the thing that pisses me off. I expect Microsoft to sink lower and lower, but I wish users would put their foot down. The slippery slope isn't always a fallacy. Microsoft is going to keep pushing the limit until they see diminishing returns. "No ads on your desktop! Just $5 a month! Choose from our wide range of wallpapers! Only an additional $5 a month!"

Just get the win 7 versions. use adblock and noscript on your browsers. That aside I agree, ads should be non-invasive.

Anybody who needs install help or has questions, PM me. Looky there, better support than Microsoft.

You mean like the people who point out this is a new game mode that's entirely optional, and you can play the regular solitaire game the same way you've always played it for the last 20 years?

As soon as Steam OS drops it will become my main OS. I have no problems with Linux but I want someone interested in game development backing it which leaves me waiting for it. I know I can download it now, but is it done or still beta?

Yup, its to remove ads mostly, but its not even a permanent paymet ^^; (edit: i mean that is just a timed removal)

I posted links for the typical classic win games that works on 8.1 and 10 (i did not make that upload, but its good and deserves sharing)

Solitaire can be relaxing once in a while but if you're going to be crazy enough to pay for it there are already paid for Solitaire programs that are 100 times better then the Windows version of it that also happen to include freecell, hearts and dozens of others. I wonder how much of a success this can really be for them, it seems a tad ridiculous.

so much hate for Windows on Voat

I've used Windows since the beginning of time and I have had no problems since (not including) Vista. Even on Vista, I got by, it was fine.

I'm glad the hate for Windows is reaching the tops of our threads though, it shows that we aren't overrun by corporate shills - let the haters hate :)

There's no need to get all bent out of shape and become an arrogant prick.

I like how you assume I didn't know this.

I will also have you know that a good chunk of those games in my library were from humble indie bundles so I own DRM free copies anyways, but they're just easier to play from Steam so yes, I do own those.

[–] barset 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I play a shit load of Freecell and Tri Peaks, but even on ad based versions it's rarely been an issue. Maybe I've just become numb to it being a Kindle owner who has ads on every opening screen.

This isn't DLC to blame but the IAP racket that's developed on mobile over the last few years. Look at the success of King as a game publisher and ask if you can blame them for wanting a cut? Is it unscrupulous? Sure, but there's a fuck load of money out there many are willing to throw at this kind of shit. I don't agree with it but I can see the logic behind it.
