The WNBA isn't my cup of tea, but I have nothing against the ladies who want to play hoops. I'd like to keep an open mind, but this seems demeaning and harmful for both men and women.

Playing as women basketball players does not seem fun. The main good thing about the women's game is the fundamentals are fairly solid: they don't pick up their dribble unnecessarily, they pass and move without the ball a bit more than in the NBA, etc. But the least athletic man in the game will blow even the most athletic women out of the water. I have a feeling this will make the WNBA more of a joke than it already is. The league basically only survives because the NBA subsidizes it and it would look bad for them to cancel it. People are going to stream and mock the hell out of this. Imagine the random people saying "Ok, I'm going to dunk now, let me press the dunk button" and have people laugh when she goes in for a layup.

Why be salty about an extra game mode you can ignore if you want to? Why can't you just be happy for the 2% of people that might be genuinely interested in this?

  • We won't be able to ignore this....it will be front and center in all of the advertising everywhere, I'd bet.
  • Adding the WNBA signals creative bankruptcy. You can't think of other game modes or features\ (maybe different numbers of players) that would benefit 98% of players?
  • I can imagine that a ridiculous amount of development resources went into accommodating these changes. Did their team spend countless hours figuring out how to add this change instead of spending time fixing bugs (of which their are many) and refining the existing systems (many of which can be radically improved?)
  • Once it's in the game, they can't take it out. Every year they'll have to spend development resources adding features for the women's mode nobody pays for in order to appease woke people instead of fixing bugs. Bye 2k, it was nice knowing you.

I'd like to keep an open mind, but NBA2K has felt increasingly buggy in the last few seasons and this just seems like another example of getting woke and going broke.
