I guess you can't really make a half-assed, buggy figurine with arms and legs sold as DLC. People wouldn't buy that... right? Bonus for die hard fans, I suppose. No real reason for a casual gamer to order.

They would just market it as "Oh no! You stepped on a landmine and are crippled! For $5.99 buy a Doctor's Bag and get that limb back on!"

I would say that isn't realistic, but it totally is. Hype and demand drives the customer. I'm personally of the mindset that I don't need the instant gratification of a preorder and being first to have a new thing. I don't need to dish out 60, 80 or 100 dollars on something that by the time I'm ready to play or use, can be purchased for a fraction of the price. (Love you humble bundle) Even though the game may be dated, it'll still be new to me.

Edit: steered away from the main point a tad - the figures may be neat, but serve the average person no use. Don't see the reason to make a preorder for them.
